If you use G Suite applications—Docs, Sheets, and Slides—you can quickly create new documents directly from the address bar of your browser. Google has created a set of shortcuts that use .new at the end of a website address to trigger an action.
For G Suite applications:
- docs.new creates a new document in Google Docs
- sheets.new creates a new spreadsheet in Google Sheets
- slides.new creates a new presentation in Google Slides.
Typing these URLs into your address bar will trigger the associated action, and you can also bookmark these URLs to trigger the actions with a click.
Use of the .new trigger isn’t limited to Google products. Other services have created their own similar shortcuts.
That’s cool! Thanks!
Good advice to get started. I need a 10 year old to help with this!
